Having the right attitude is paramount. It helps to make the person that you come across feel valued. For many people with a disability just knowing that you are willing to help, can be a great help even if you can’t solve the problem.
Treat the person like you would with any one of a similar age knowing they might need extra help.

It is far better to ask someone is there anything you can do to help them than let them struggle. Please do let them do as much as they can on their own. It is important to let people with a disability be independent as much as they can be.
